choosing a turbo...dyno charts requested
was wondering if anyone had a chart of a 2871r .63 drop in at around 9-10 psi.
i cant find one for the life of me....
turbo will be on a stock b18c1
also....out of all the people running gt30-configured turbos, does the lack in power at the lower rpms make up for itself at all. the gt3071 looks great...but from jeff's gt28rs/gt30371 comparison...im worried my low and midrange at the boost level im looking to run will suffer....in the midrange...gains of up to 50 whp were seen...
for now im just looking for 300 to the ground...of course the stock block will hold me back from making any more...my dilemma is that if i was to go with the 28rs now...by the time i have enough money to get my block done by earl and have everything else ready....it will be about a year.....in my mind i just dont see anything under 11 psi being that efficient with a gt3071....

Sorry cannot help you with a chart, though from what I have seen on FA the 2871 is a strong turbo.
With regard to efficiency <11psi, have you seen Innovatives duall BB 50 trim?
Comparing the 2871, 3071 and 50 maps for a 1.8 liter motor and 11 psi the 50 puts you right in the 78% island and give you room to grow. Not knowing what your goal is a year from now though I really cannot comment much more.
Hope I didn't side track you too much.

lmao.....every thing is side tracking me....im shooting for 500 whp when im done with the block...and i jsut dont think i can choose a turbo now that will make strong power at 9 psi...be efficient...and then be able to just turn up the boost and make the power i want...
looks like im gonna have to upgrade for a third time in a year....

Get one GT28RS now and then when you are ready just add another! (grin)
I think you are right. Either get what you need now and sacrifice efficiency or get something efficient now and sacrifice your wallet later to get the HP you want!
Good luck.

This is what you need to do.
Buy the GT28RS for now. It spools as fast as you would want and is capable of 400+ hp. Once your built motor is in, drop in c16 and head for the dyno. Push the GT28RS until it runs out of air, you'll make a shitload of power and torque. At that point if you feel the need for a larger turbo, go ahead and do so.
