Default Swap wiring help

Ok I have a 96 DX Hatch that I just swapped in an 00 b16a2. I have the harness off the b16a2 uncut and original ECU. Everything went fine fired up and everything but the tach isnt working. Looked at all tach signal wires and all is clear. Then checked ECU and only have 3 of 4 plugs plugged in plus the empry slot on ecu. We checked other friends with b16a2 and at their ECU they have the green plug, 1 blue, and 2 gray. Here is all I have.

Is there something I'm missing? There are no cut wires anywhere at all and the whole car runs fine except for that missing plug and tach not working.

If you need anymore pics of plugs hooked up to ECU or anything let me know. Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

you have to the tach wire from the dizzy (blue) cause the harness does not have the tach from the other side of the dizzy. or you can run the wire from the ecu.

we already check wires at the distributor and all tach wires are there. we also compared all plugs on driver sides by firewall and at distributor to my friends stock si and all wires are the same there. It has something to do with the 3rd plug missing on the ECU. Just not sure if that 3rd plug is part of interior harness or not. friend left before we could check that.

take a look at the dizzy plug again and you will see. there is a blue wire came from the dizzy but no wire come out from the other side of the engine harness.

correct and thats how it is on my friends stock si also.

the problem is the 3rd plug on the ecu and finding out where that comes from or whatever.

ok just took it for a test run and had no speedo also. temperatre gauge is working and fuel gauge works. also i know check engine should come on cause of test pipe and not getting that either. also when we came back the temp was at 1/2 way so we let it sit to run and the fan never came on and it started to rise so we shut it off.

ok we reused d16 harness and wired in vtec solenoid, vtec pressure, rewired crankshaft position sensor and changed iacv from 3 wire to 2 wire. also did neccessary pinouts at ecu. still running p72 until i can get p73. this is what another friend told me to run as it doesnt have 2nd o2 sensor and knock sensor anymore.

thanks for help

You are missing the fact that you DON'T use an OBD2b wiring harness in an OBD2a chassis and vice-versa. You can certainly use an OBD2b ECU in a OBD2a chassis (and vice-versa) - but you'll need a jumper harness and to be mindful of the FTP sensor issue. More than likely your 96 Dx hatch did not come equipped with the FTP which all 99-00 Civic ECUs are looking for.

Your friend has you on the right track with re-using the stock harness and adding/extending wires as needed.
