Default low compression. please help!

it's a b18c1...compression results yield: 190, 60 , 210, 210.

car left me stranded and would not start... the engine cranks but does not turn over.

what could be the cause? how do i determine if it is valves or piston rings. see pics below:

i pulled the head, looks like the valves aren't bent. just a whole lot of carbon buildup.

cylinder2 valves seem to be extremely discolored compared to other cylinder valves...

pic of engine block... no visible damage...YET? How do I determine if its the piston rings??

just to make it R-izzle R-elated

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Those plugs look absolutely shot (detonation), but it could just be the angle.

Too bad the head isn't bolted up - you could've just poured a little oil in each cylinder and re-compression tested to see if it was rings...and then a leakdown test on the head to see if it was valves.

At this point I would just pull the pistons out anyway to check the rings, then put new rings on them even if they are ok. Was the car boosted or did it have nitrous?
Did you over-rev the car?

no the car was never boosted on nitrous or over revved.

do i need new pistons when rebuilding the block? or will the new rings be okay?

or does it depend on if the block needs to be bored?
