Default Running Hot...

So we were told we needed a new starter on my 98 honda accord, so we put a new starter in, he had to unhook the hose from the radiator, and now all of a sudden it is running hot... could we have lost that much coolant in that small amt of time? i just dont get it... any reason why it would run hot all of a sudden when it hasnt before?

also.. i got a starter from auto zone.. prob not the best idea, and it makes a slight whining when it cranks.. is that just cause its a cheaper starter.. cause it starts up fine and right away..

thank you in advance for any advice yall can give me

Assuming you have refilled the radiator, you possibly have an air bubble in the system. I would run it till it gets hot, then let it cool and check coolant level. If its low, be sure to open the bleeder bolt on the thermostat housing when you refill to bleed the air out. Fill it untill you have a steady stream of coolant coming out of the bleeder hole. As for the starter....never used an auto-zone type so can't help you there. Good Luck.

like integ said make sure you refill rad and bleed system also chk for any loose plugs around the area....fans working ??

as for the autozone starter they are a piece of **** they are noisy and will get noisier and be ready to replace it in the near future again they dont last long ,1 good thing about it is that it is lifetime warranty so if you do the work you are ok, if you have to pay a mechanic get your money back from autozone and install a honda started
