Default i need help!! JDM Vs. Look-a-likes

I'm new to honda-tech and honda all together, i'm glad i went with an '89 CRX Si, was a rush the first time i drove it, but seriously i need some help determining what the REAL Mugen body kit looks like, all i seem to find are Mugen-style kits and i find others that dont clearly say that there Mugen or not. i have asked king motor sports if they could send me pics and prices for parts but they claim they cant.

is this the real mugen front bumper? http://crxsir.com/top_05.html

i need some help please post some pics

Well the real ones are expensive and fit well. So if you see a kit that is going for 300$, its problably not real

good ole JDM, the new Ricer passion.

If it looks good, wear it.

Honestly, who really cares. Unless your cars for show only, nobody is going to look twice. If it looks good, go for it....

I don't really get this whole "JDM" craze either. It seems that people are willing to buy something just because it has "JDM" in the title. For example, on ebay..."JDM NEONS" or something. Its getting pretty pathetic IMO...

If you like it, and its clean, do it up.

That front bumper is not an authentic Mugen bumper. The bumper lenses are not recessed enough into the bumper, there is no line around the lenses for the optional plastic protection piece, and you can clearly see that its a modified WW bumper due to the unlean lines around the bumper lenses. The rest of the kit however looks to be authentic.

And to whomever said that you can get an authentic Mugen kit for $2k please tell me where because unless its damaged up you cant get one for under $3k. I know Ive searched.

.....actually youre WRONG. have you set a WW bumper next to a real EF8 bumper and looked at the top of em? an EF8 hood extends more. a modified WW bumper wouldnt accomodate an EF8 hood well. you can shave into the bumper but the hood will sit past the top middle bumper line and there will be a 1.5" gap between the hood edge and middle top of the bumper. so here we clearly see that you are WRONG. as far as gettin an authentic kit I was about to get one off ebay 3 years ago for $1500, the front bumper had some cracks.

me personally i dont get why u guys invest $500+ into body kits. if your going for looks then why did you buy a hatch to begin with? all they do is prevent u from lowering ur car to the length it coulda went but now it cant casue theres a body kit in the way. the ONLY reason id do it is if the car was turboed and the bumper didnt clear the intercooler. but in civics it will

Jdm styling is different.. that's why people Started using it, And a reason someone might use a mugen kit is to have the BEST of the BEST in body kits. Unlike you people who for some reason are searching eBay looking for jdm neon's(wtf)..Saying a Jdm stuff isn't worth it is like saying having a Honda is pointless..
to JDM haters

"JDM style" is not different. I see it all the time, whatever. every other honda has some sort of jdm this or that on it. I think spending more than what a car is worth on a mugen body kit is farking retarded, but that's me, I'd rather spend the money on something else that would give a measurable increase in performance, or maybe a 50" widescreen TV or something.

Jay dee em, Gay Dee em, whatever you want to call it exists the way it does because there will always people around who will pay lots of money for it. I say let them. they aren't hurting anyone, and if it makes them feel better that they know the subtle nuances around the blinker lights of a fiberglass bumper, than so be it. In the end we all do pretty much the same thing - fixing up your car. I'll like it as long as its clean and tasteful.

Who gives a flying **** about JDM? JDM can kiss my ***, and so can body kits. Why waste money on purely visual? If anything, body kits will slow you down because of the weight. Look ugly as **** most of the time anyways. "Well I've got a EF8 JDM Uber Shiznit Fiberglass Mugen Replica Spoon Sports Head Light!"

its not a style. its OEM. and the fanbois will always be around to keep it alive and a profitable business and put "jdm" in their screen name. whatever floats your boat. We can always agree to disagree. have fun replacing your leet jdm parts when they break, are damaged, or get stolen.

This one look ssimilar to the real mugen front but I don't think it is the real deal..

Now these are the real thing and you can see where there is an indent for the plastic covering over the wrap around lenses. And the shape of the bumper looks to flat in the first pic. The real fron it alot more round and the air inlet and grilla rea are angled down alot more.

You can also see there are wholes int he bumper for the lisence plate.

here is a pic of the real mugen front for the ZC/USDM front end with wrap around lights.

Good luck finding one. your best bet is to get the replica one.
