Default Wrinkle Paint Prep Question

I am picking up a new car on Monday & I got a CAI for it in the mail today, I plan on painting the intake w/ black wrinkle paint. Obviously I'll need to sand down the finish before I paint, but will I need to prime it before I paint? TIA

More than likely the CAI tubing will be metal so there is a need to sand down slightly the pipe. After that I always prime most of what I am painting because it helps to smooth the final coat and typically promotes adhesion. You could go with a metal adhesive promoter primer that helps out a ton, I know when I painted my intake some parts of the paint were removed easily with a slight rub so I redid it with adhesive promoter and shes beautiful .

The other thing I did was tape off the holes/bungs that jut out as to not clog them or compromise any fitting issues.

Hope that helps.

Thank you my friend That was pretty much what I had in mind, but I was not aware that there was a metal adhesive primer. I'll have to source some of that this weekend. I wanted to paint it w/ teh wrinkle paint b/c I figured that it would give it more of a hint of an OEM touch ya know?

nah you don't need any primer man,
just follow the directions on the can and you'll be fine.

i'm a wrinkle paint freak,
just sand it down if its a glossy intake tube..
