Default ITR swapped civic ex.. have some ?'s

K im a newbie so take it easy on me for a min.. need some help from those that know about itr engines.
Im getting a civic ex soon and it has an ITR engine/ tranny.. i talked to the guy and he said something about the "dipstick".. not really sure what that is but he mentioned jb weld.. can someone explain this to me lol.
The second problem he mentioned was first gear sputtering a bit or something.. just said the flywheel needs to be resurfaced.
He also said hed be going down on the price and would be removing a skunk 2 ecu for an si ecu and a stock si exhaust.. will i get any problems by replacing either of the two things.

Im sorry if i posted this in the wrong place.. but i figure you guys know more about the c5 than other sections in this forum..
thx in advance

the dipstick tends to become loose, so the best way to fix it is to weld it on. thats all i know

1) The dipstick held in by JB weld should be fine. It has a tendency to rotate or work its way lose at times

2) Sputtering? How so? Need to be more clear.

3) Si ECU is okay.

4) Is the motor legit?

5) Welcome to the board.

6) Hybrid forum may know more to these answers than the C5 guys.

Are there any other things i should be watching out for.. im gona do the compression test + leakdown on monday..
and thanks ;p

If you're going to do that at all, then get the numbers and check with the police BEFORE you buy the car.

A stock Si exhaust would probably hold back the ITR motor a bit, and the Si ecu should at least be "chipped" to run the ITR motor (and not a stock EX 1.6). Sounds like too many problems unless you're getting it for pocket change.

I am not normally an ***, but your post just happen to come across me while in a bad mood.

If you are buying a car, and dont know what the f*ck a dipstick is, then GTFO. Have you EVER checked your oil? If so, you should know that there is a dipstick and a tube the dipstick goes into. A simple search would have given you all the info you need on a loose dipstick tube. Also, you should have posted this in the HYBRID forum, and not the ITR forum.

Regardless of my rant, this post is in the wrong forum and the dipstick question could have been resolved with a simple search.

So whats the VIN on that ITR motor?

Billy?

That car sounds like nothing but trouble ... have you driven it yet?
For $8500 you shouldn't have to do anything but put gas in it.

Do a compression test on it for sure,

cause of the valve piston interfere style for C5's, with a miss shift u can end up with bent valves which would cost you some bread.

they all should be in the range of 190psi to 215 psi .

good luck

I don't mean for this to be a shamless plug, I am trying to be helpful. I am selling my 98 civic ex coupe with JDM ITR swap. The engine has only been in for 22k miles and had approx 20k when I put it in. It does have the 4.785 final drive and LSD trans with "smooth as butter" shifts between all gears at all rpms. The compression is perfect (details on the classifidies thread) I don't want to go into too much detail, but I can promise you that there are no disappointments with this car, and if you are talking about spending $8500, you should definately get a car that you can put gas in and go, like metioned before.

Click on the link in my sig to check the car out. I am happy to ship and be accommodating however I can. Email me if you are interested. Good luck!!

Ok so i drove the itrd civic ex and its not too bad. First gear the car seems to jump a bit (he said the flywheel needs to be resurfaced).. aside from that being in vtec is bliss. The outside is a problem though.. the paint looks a bit weathered.. the bumpers look a bit loose.. the fittment of his cf hood is off (which may not be a problem, ill explain in a sec). The front lights look a bit cloudy the tail lights actually look like they have tiny cracks in them. The car has like 1 fist sized dent on the left front panel, the rest of the car has some scratches and the wheels arent exactly tidy. The interior is immaculate, full si and the itr shift ****/ and whatever pedals he has look ok. Heres the other problem (is it a problem or not?).. the engine was pulled out of a totalled ITR which was given a title of destruction and then sold to a friend of the guy selling me the car. Im going to take the car to the pigstation and make sure its 100% legit.. but i want to know if ill be able to insure the damn thing. His price is pretty firm at 8500.. he removed a skunk2 ecu (allows 9g revving), sri, tanabe superhyper medallion catback, his cf hood (replacing with another hood which "fits better" in his words) + alarm and wants to sell me the car at that price. Opinions? He wanted to sell for 10g but dropped to 8500.. what do you guys think

and about your car.. if you wana come down with it and match this dudes offer with a cleaner car ill buy it without hesitating..
heres my aim: heetheem
