B16A CROWER 502 cam anygood anyone tried it?
Just wondering my buddy has a set of CROWER 502 cams and i am thinking of getting them. Ayone tried them in there 1st gen B16?
Crower seems to have a reliability problem with their B series cams.
there was a long thread on the type R forum about how many Crower cams have broken and ruined motors.
I saw two sets of Crower cams ( don't know which type they were) break into several pieces at Orlando Speed World a couple of months ago.
I actually saw the cams broken into 4 to 5 pieces each.
It's your call.

The reliability issue with the Crower cams was only on the first batch. So if you bought a set of new cams tomorrow, they'd be fine.
Do a search for like "crower dyno" or something and see if you can't find some plots. They don't seem to be that great at actually making power, even if they don't break any more.

I was a huge proponent for the Crower stuff, but now I am leery after reading all the current stuff people have had happened to them ......

i rather run ZEX cams which are cheaper, don't have the issuses.....otherwise go with SKunk2 cams only $50-75 more expensive then Crower, but no issues any more either with breakage
Ya, skunk2 is a major
.
Stage 1 kicks *** in B16's although is a little blah in B18's, and Stage 2 is basically identical to JUN 3's.

i had crower's 403 camshafts in my ls/vtec hybrid crx. i constantly ran the cams out to about 9500+ rpm... i had no problems what so ever. i think that most people who are buying these cams are slapping them in and then reving to hell... with any cam they will brake if you don't brake them in. in all honesty give them about 500-800 miles of easy use before you beat on the motor again. also you need to lock in the vtec cam lobe and make sure that none of the valve springs are binding. if they are you will have serious problems because this means your valves will stop moving down and that they will impede the camshaft lobe's travel. that equals broken cams in 5 or 6 places...
