Default Crazy problem with braking in the ITR..Help???????

Well, I went to the carwash today, and got my car washed. i smoked a cigerette before getting in my car so it sat for a good 8 mins or so after it came out of the wash. I drove about a mile or so and noticed the front left brake making a little noise, i figured it was water and it would be ok.

I realized that under hard braking, my R's front end heads to the right, and under ABS braking, the back will come out about a foot or two to the left as the front goes the same to the right.

At a stop, stepping on the brake made a slight "click" noise on the front left wheel. i went to Firestone, and they checked out the front right and front left calipers and hoses, and found nothing wrong at all.

I had my front rotors resurfaced and got new pads probably 4-5000 miles ago, and have taken it pretty easy on the brakes for the most part.

I was thinking maybe i warped them? or that the rears are warped? i am so damn confused.

Cliffnotes Q: My R pulls to the right when i brake semi-hard, and the front calpiers and hoses are fine, and i had the front rotors resurfaced recently and new pads. What the hell is going on?

Off to search. Please help!!

You noticed this just after you had your car washed? As in you never experienced this before the wash?

Was it one of those washes that has the track that pulls the car along as the car gets washed?

I'd personally get under the car and check. I'd check the wheels, clearance to the calipers, action of the calipers, make sure the pad material isn't seperated from the backing plate, check if the shims or squealer moved etc.

I wouldn't go to Firestone. I'd go to a reputible performance shop or better yet an Acura dealership if I didn't know what to look at or for or if I couldn't find anything wrong and the situation persisted.

Pulling to one side under braking can be several things, try evening the tire pressures, then checking again.

I'd also look into an alignment.

And just to be safe, I wouldn't do any silly crap or pseudo testing on the street till it is resolved.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by TypeRlove &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I realized that under hard braking, my R's front end heads to the right, and under ABS braking, the back will come out about a foot or two to the left as the front goes the same to the right.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Assuming you are headed in a dead center straight line on a flat smooth surface, This sounds like an alignment issue.

i forgot to mention i had an allignment and rotation done yesterday/ the allignment is absolutely within spec

However, i notice that the steering wheel is tighter for right hand turns than left, and the steering wheel is off center to the left a little bit.

Maybe its a tie rod issue that is causing the car to drift a bit? i feel like the brakes are grabbing hard (evenly i dont know), but the car drives fairly well since the allignment, i just hadn't hit the brakes much until today. im gonna go outside and check my pressure thanks.

Any other possibilities?

It sounds like your pressures are off. What do you normally run? Also, what are the specs on the alignment?

toes: +2 front, +5 rears, caster -41 right, -26 left, camber -131 right, -62 left, its all good far as i know. it drives well, but braking hard means pull to the right i try to compensate with the wheel but that means that somethng is wrong.

i think that allignment is good but the tie rods are not set right and that they need to be right in order to be keep the car BRAKING ok/ but i could be wrong for all i know it is pads or something else i have no clue.

****** A i am drizzy. take what i said, help me out please? i dont know why my R is doing this... for the help i get

I didnt' quite understand the alignment specs you were trying to write however, check your calipers. If a pad is sticking, that may be why the car is going to the right. Do you have your car serviced quite often? When's the last time you changed the pads + rotor combo?
