changing brake pads
Hello there!
I live in Hungary and have an ITR. Here the only available quality street/racing pads are the Ferodos and they're quite expensive. The Ferodo DS2500 is $150 for the front and $150 for the rear. So I'm planning to buy cheaper street pads for street use and buying the 2500 for the track. So tell me what do you think about changing the pads quite frequently on the SAME rotor while using the same brake pad manufacturer? Is it good or bad? Thx!
Henrik

Some pad manufacturers allow this type of thing with specific pads. IE a popular pad company here "Cobalt Friction" allows their GT sport (Street/AutoX) pad to be swapped with their Spec VR (HPDE/Track/Compeition) pad and vice versa.
To be sure of this just contact the company that manufactures the pads in question, because some pads will not work well when mixing compounds. Regardless they will need to be bedded in when swapping back and forth.

Thx for the answers! So in general we could say that changing back and forth two separate brake pads on a rotor is a bad thing right? Well, that's what I was thinking too.
Yeah, I know of the Cobalt Friction pads, they seem pretty nice to me. I wish those would be available here!
Do you know the Ferodo pads? How does the DS2000 or DS2500 performs comapring to the GT sport? Also the DS3000 to the Spec VR?
"some pads will not work well when mixing compounds"
You mean that the brake pad compound gets onto the rotor and after changing the pad the two different kind of compounds mixes so the friction will not be optimal?

Welcome to the board. And can I be the first to say that you, even being from Hungary and probably had to have learned English as a second language, have better grammar than 99% of the n00bs we've had lately.
As far as the brake pads go, I'd do as others have suggested and just change rotors while you're taking apart the brakes anyway. It's only 10 more minutes of extra work.
Also, post some pics of your R.

It's just a (well, almost) bone stock CW EDM spec 1998 ITR so nothing really special
But ok here it goes ->

It's from a track event (F1 track -> Hungaroring) last week and that's not me on the picture

Actually it's illegal here too. I even had a penalty by the cops because of it.
But I don't care, a normal sized plate just sucks on this car.

Oh I should knew that! Yeah it's another ITR! You have good eyes!
It was a good day with lots of Hondas. 3 ITR (including mine), 2 S2000, Civics and CRXs. Tracking is a lot of fun, but now I need new brakes and tires!
