Well they're illegal to use on the street in the state of california. However if a cop decided to pull you over and your engine looked stock enough you'd probably get away with it. I'm not sure how they do with smog but at the smog ref, if you do get caught, it wont pass. Oh yea I think it's a fix it ticket saying you need to go to the ref.
