CRV motor in EK hatch.....
Hey. I usually hang out in the EF forum, but I want to get some opinions on my setup Im going to do on my EK hatch. I have a B20Z bottom end, B18B head (non-vtec), B16A 1st gen intake manifold, 4-2-1 header, and LS tranny. I havnt put it all together yet, I will this fall. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what they think of it? I have the means to tune the ecu for these parts. What is the stock CRV horsepower? Cant wait to get-r-done (get-r-done is beginning to wear on me)
B20Z

i think you should get a pr3 head(b16) and a shorter geared tranny like a gsr and you can make some nice n/a power or boost it for even more power...and you would might want to get a better IM
the B16 IM wont bolt up to the B18B head. you can get a Skunk2 Manifold for a LS which would put out a decent gain. I got a great gain from putting a Skunk2 Manifold and BBK 70mm throttle body on my B20B in my CRV. That should be a fun set-up for a EK but you wont pass inspection with a B20 because its considered a light truck motor.

by the way.. GSR tranny is wonderful for this... otherwise.. LS tranny is good.. longer gears.. highway terror!!

the crv motor has about 135 ish and about 128 tourque im not to sure about this whole b16 manifold on the ls head if i were u i would put a b16 head or a b18c head on it and then u would have about 200hp i know people who have done the crv-vtec motor swap and it is very fast and pulls hard
You can get a Blox{LS} manifold off of Ebay for about $175, witch should be real close to a Skunk2 piece! That would be the way i would go....and i notice you guys keep saying stuff about a Crv motor won't pass smog because it is a light truck motor....WTH is that all about, they check your engine code when you go get a tag or something!?
I dont have emissions check in my county, so Im not worried. I dont think we ever will because some counties in Ohio here are looking at getting rid of them all-together I heard.
thanks, I didnt know the B16 IM wouldnt fit on the LS head (didnt check it myself). So I will either have to get a skunk or an LS IM, which I have. The B16 IM looks so much better!

The blox manifold will work great and save you some $$$ where it counts. I work at a Honda Service Center and if the motor is swapped it must be the same OBD series or better to pass emissions/inspection and the motor must be of the same class (car-car motor) The B20B is registered as a "light truck" motor because it comes in a CRV so a light truck motor in a car is a no-no to them. BUT DO IT ANYWAYS especially since you already have the parts. Just get it inspected/emissions right before you swap it out
