Default Timing Belt Change-Please help me

First of all Hi, I am new to this forum, was told you guys are really helpfull.

I want to change the timing belt on my 4cyl Accord (1999) black coupe.

I am not sure what all I need. I looked on ebay and found some stuff but wanted to make sure it was EVERYTHING I needed. This is what I am looking at:

water pump kit with timing belt and tension roller
> is
> $95.50. Balance belt kit with belt and tension
> roller
> is $35.00.

Is this a good deal and everything I need?

Also, has anyone else done this before and what would be my level of difficulty on 1-10, 1 being the lowest. I have a timing light already and air tools, torque wrenches, ect..

Thanks for the help!

sound like decent deals, but are you sure you want to buy that stuff from ebay? i'd buy honda OEM parts from a dealer, i recommend hondaautomotiveparts.com

you don't really have to change the "tension rollers"

do you have a crank pulley holder tool? you will probably need it to loosen your crank pulley, although an impact gun may be able to do it on its' own.

on your 1-10 scale I would give it a 7 or an 8. I hope you have a helms manual to refer to.

i bought my kit from ebay and the belts were going to go bad earlier than expected according to my honda mechanic, they were bando belts so make sure you don't get those

also, make sure you look up the part numbers for each belt, i was sent the wrong timing belt which cost me another 30 bux

if this is your first timing belt change, dont worry about the rollers

I gave you a great site above. There is no "kit" just buy the timing belt, balancer belt, and water pump.

http://www.helminc.com for the book.

But if you're trying to decide whether you wanna take on this job, check out any kinda repair manual you can find at a public library. I've actually seen Helm books there sometimes. Read thru it & make sure you understand how to line up the sprockets. BEFORE you take off the old belt.

i did mine on saturday

replaced both accessory belts, timing belt, balancer shaft belt, water pump, upper and lower radiator hoses, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, cap, rotor, pcv valve, and also the gasket on the lower timing cover.

you will also need a Helm manual to learn how to set at top dead center (piston 1). also be sure to paint mark your balance shafts so if they move on you, you can line them right back up. you do not need a timing light.

Here:

Find this Honda dealer on ebay... hondanormreeves

Great service, got an entire accord t-belt kit for 160 shipped which includes the following:

Front main (crank) seal oem part # 91212-P0A-004
Front oil pump (drive) seal oem part # 15114-PT0-003
Balance shaft seal oem part # 91233-PT0-003
Timimg belt oem part # 14400-PAA-A02
Balance belt oem part # 13405-PAA-A03
Cam seal oem part # 91213-PT0-003
Water pump oem part # 19200-P0A-003
Valve cover gasket oem part # 12341-P0A-000
Spark plug tube seals x 4 oem part # 12342-P2F-A01 x 4

I purchased the tensioners from another ebayer who was recommended on an accord forum, nvthai. Great prices, fast shipping.

Going to put it in this weekend..not sure on some of the seals though, I've had bad luck messing with seals that weren't bad to begin with!

Holy CRUD!! You did it all didn't you?!

When I changed my wife's timing belt last week, I just did the timing belt, balancer belt, water pump and the two accessory belts. Drained and refilled the cooling system too of course. I think it's definitely a waste of money to do any of the seals etc, unless this is not your first timing belt change. The crank pulley bolt would not come off my a big impact wrench, but that's a whole other story.

You can get the 50mm crank pulley tool from Amazon.com nowadays. only $25.

i'm an acura tech, you know i had to go all the way. Besides, no such thing as too much maintenance.

i used an ingersol rand 2135Ti titanium to bust the crank bolt loose.
