why man, those are used in Drifters for better use of all controls while sideways. But if that's what you want......

 

I'm going to have to guess it will have to be a custom job what I would do is get a stock shift arm and lengthen it myself and/or have a shop lengthen it.

its used by RACE CARS so that the hand doesnt have to move as much. even though they're very tall, the throws are very short.....ive never seen one for the cablle linkage honda trannies

 

i'd like to see what happens if you have one of those and get in a wreck, that prob wouldnt feel too good getting impaled by that. see if you can just try to find a taller shift ****, cause otherwise you're looking at a custom job with lots of money involved. good luck with that.

Mark</TD></TR></TABLE>Hahaha ... its going on a Drag car and my shifter is REALLY low and for me thats not good ..but yea thanks for the help everybody. I'll just try to find a tall *** shift ****...any ideas?

-heh, way to tell 'em. that's classic.

 

that looks extremely stupid. if the car is full race, with the bare minimum then i can see it, but in a daily driver that would do nothing but get annoying and get in the way of the radio.



if you really wanted get a used truck shifter, and weld it in place of your original.

Also used in rally cars . But they got sequential transmission.

 

shouldn't be a hard job if you get creative

find a straight piece of metal, or use another shifter...thread the bottom so you can screw it into your existing shifter and thread the top so you can screw in a shift ****

now that your throw has increased 10 fold, you'll just have to make different mounting points for the two shifter cables and your set

not a big deal

yep, thats the thing to remember. Just lengthening the shifter itself is only part of it. You need to change the mounting pionts for the cables so your throw isn't affected by the length change.

The company that I know of that makes that shifter (for Civic/Del Sol/Integra) also extended the mounting point of the rod linkage so it didn't feel like the throw had changed at all. There may be others that also shortened the shift throw while extending the length but I don't know of any. You can't go to far though since on Civic/Del Sol/Integra the rod linkage is just above the exhaust and if you extend the mounting to far you'll hit the exhaust. The company I was refering to actually does hit some exhausts. For Accord/Preludes though, I'm not sure how much you would need to change the mounting positions for the cables.

You could try contacting Pspec or Forbidden to see if they may be willing to start making something like this. Don't know, just a thought.

And basically the concept of this style shifter is to shorten the distance/time your hand has to travel which maximizes the time your hand spends on the wheel controlling the car.
