I got a 1994 hatch from a auction for 600 bucks it has d15b8 in the car. The motor starts but when I hit the gas there is this big *** cloud of grayish black smoke that comes out of the exhuast.. So i just want to find out out if its just the head. or the whole motor thats blown. Help a brother out .

 

Thats fuel smoke....grayish with black means there is likely oil in it as well. Probably a shot cat and maybe bad rings as well.

 

yea probably the rings.

 

Hell..just chunk that D15 and get yourself another motor. I'm sure you came out okay by getting the hatch for only $600.

 

If you're mechanically inclined, you could replace all the worn parts. Or, you can get another engine, which you won't know the condition of.

Just get a jdm d15b they are like 300 bucks...
