Default Need Help With A/C

Hello I am new to these forums but after extensive searching i cannot come up with anything to help me solve my air conditioning problem. When the A/C is running it keeps switching on and off at freeway speeds and causing a noticible increase and decrease in power when doing so. It feels as if the engine gets a boost of power then slows again and the engine's RPM's go from lets say 3000 to 3100 then back to 3000 then back up to 3100 over and over again.

I know it is A/C related because i can hear the compressor switching on and off while it is doing this. Plus the engine doesn't do it when the A/C is off or just the blower fan is on. Other than that it blow cold then stops momentarily then cold then not so on and so forth. I just had it serviced recently(trans fluid change, oil change, new cap and rotor, plugs and air filter) Please if anyone can shed light on this let me know i really appreciate it.

What you are noticing is called "Cycling" of that A/C Compressor.

Cycling is normal to prevent freezing up of the system. There is an automatic RPM step up relay that causes your RPM's to increase in order to compensate for the extra pull of the A/C Compressor.

Now... If you are noticing these cycles rather rapidly then your A/C System may be low on refrigerant.

or your conderser fan is busted

at least this is what happened to mine

check it

turn on your ac and watch the compressor, when it engages the conderser fan is supposed to turn on... if not then theres your problem
