Default d15 GoKart

Hey guys, I just got directed here from a few people on Fargostreet.com, my hometown tuner's board. Anyways, I just sold my 1st gen pgt turbo and bought an 89 4 dr dx and have plans on making it into a go kart. I would like to do a rwd rear engine setup, and was wondering if anyone has experience with something like this. I plan on using all stock front suspension parts, just on the rear end. I plan on constructing a full tube, 1 seat frame, with another civic front end for steering up front. so far, this is my progress:

That's what usually stops most projects. Make sure you have a GOOD plan. I don't mean back of a napkin, I mean drawings and dimensions. The more planning you put into it, the easier the rest is. Good luck!

I was told that "fargostreetz" or whatever.com sucks ***, and is full of drama.

I can't wait to see how slow and unstable its going to be.

I dont know if its on honda-tech, but there IS a go-kart with a GIXR motor on it.

Its SCARY fast, but it has like ZERO traction.

It uses Racing Kart Slicks, has working Transmission and all.

Im thinkin of putting my d15 with SI trans onto a go-kart frame. But thats a long way down the road.

I have done my research, the gixxercart does exactly that, NO traction. with a 350 pound motor, i shouldnt have that problem. the only problem i will have is keeping the front wheels on the ground I will definitly keep you all posted on the progress. And i know everyone has thought about throwing a huge motor in a gokart, but i'm doing it. not to sound cocky or anything, but everyone in the scene here in fargo is calling bs on me, so i have to get this done soon so i can prove them wrong. Oh yeah, I still have the vin numbers and the title fron the civ, so hopefully i can make this thing "street legal" eventually. I still have marker lights, tail and headlights also. i need to get it running before nything else tho.

You will not have a problem picking up the front wheels if you are using a d15 with dual point fuel injection... unless you are weightless or your frame is 2 ft long. You won't be making the same power as the gixerkart and you'll have a harder time handling since the weight distribution will be like 20-80 or worse. I would use full size car tires and a home-made turbo setup if i were you.

my 2 cent

I may not be able to produce the same power as the gixxer cart, but i can get traction! I am using the stock 13" wheels and if I can find some 40-45 series tires, thats what I would like to run. I already have stock 4 bolt hubs, why change it? I also Plan on running a 50 shot, and eventually putting a different, bigger, or easier to tune honda motor in it. I know the Throttle body injection really isn't the motor to go with, but it was cheap, and a place to start.
