I'm on a roll: have you ever had THIS problem - timing belt stretching.....!
I installed this power enterprise timing belt about 25000 miles ago.
Ideally, I'd like to replace timing belt every 15k miles just to be safe with the setup I'm running:
usdm itr motor
toda spec c camshafts
toda valve springs
portflow Ti retainers
toda gen 2 cam gears
power enterprise timing belt
i/h/e
rev limit set at 9500...
history of exactly two 9000 rpm misshifts that zinged it up to the 11k-12k rpm range for a second or so...
the rest of the motor is stock with the exception of mugen oil pan and has only 35000 miles on it since purchased brand new by yours truly.
Anyway, I recently replaced some retainers just to be on the safe side - and I periodically check my timing belt for proper tension (I like to run it a bit on the tight side).
Well I had re-tensioned the belt maybe 500-1000 miles ago and it was TIGHT when I removed it to do my retainers.
Now last night I was trying to install it again and it's LOOSE AS ****!
Even pulling up on the tensioner - the tensioner didn't have any more give to tighten the belt up any more.
I don't want to risk skipping a tooth on the belt, so I didn't even try to start the car or run it like that.
Now I'm going to put a new belt on there.
I know a lot of people bash Power Enterprise belts and a lot of people bash toda cams.
I have never had a problem with shredding belts or skipping teeth, etc.
BUT I am also very meticulous and don't do a lot of the stupid **** that people do and wonder why their motor blew up and why they have such bad luck.
I'm wondering WHY the belt was tight when I removed it, but LOOSE when I put it back on - even fully tensioned as far as the tensioner would go.
At first I thought it was due to my doing something wrong in putting the belt on - and I'm not above making a mistake.
It was getting VERY late, and I was quite exhausted, but still.....
I put the belt on exactly as the helms instructs.
And I did the coathanger trick as I always do.....
Has anyone else had this problem before?
TIGHT belt coming off, but LOOSE going on - even when fully tensioned?

If I recall there have been a few PE t-belts that have had some stretching issues. Do a quick search, I know I've read topics about this exact prob.
Here are a few I found. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=588649

ive had an issue with timing belt stretching but that was because i was using the timing belt to slip to cam gear. I was too lazy to loosen the tensioner so i just slip the timing belt into the gear...after i have been doing this for a while, i noticed that my timing belt is not as tight as it used to be so i decided to replace them asap...
I think with big cams, higher rate springs, and a 9500 red-line 25,000 miles is plenty. Replace the belt. As a matter of fact I would prob. replace the crank gear, water-pump, and tennsioner, and check the cam gears really well, they all get wear. Maybe it is cumulative.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately.....
And I think maybe I loosened the tensioner bolt too much while doing the tensioner readjustment and maybe it came off the pivot point (I'm running a lower cover, so it's hard to see in there).....
So I purchased a new tensioner, new tensioner bolt, new oem itr belt, and will go sort it out.....
This is the only explanation I can come up with for why the tension on the belt could come off tight as hell and then later on be so damn loose upon retensioning - even with "help" from a coathanger.....

^ that is exactly what happened.
I removed the lower cover and pulley, put the tensioner back on it's pivot point and tensioned with a screwdriver.
The belt is now TIGHT AS ****.....!

I have had this same issue but they all have been belt related. I have opt.'d out to go back to OEM ! After these "aftermarket" performance belts and destroying 2 complete set of valves in two motors. F_ it went back to stock !
Toda, Power Ent. Greddy, only seem to last about 15-20k and them stretched and the teeth came off.

I haven't had a problem with the properly tensioned Power Enterprise timing belt.
I will continue to use them and recommend them. I have ordered a toda timing belt for the next time I need to replace one.
