Air filter heat shield?
Has anyone seen those air filter heat shields they sell on ebay?
like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1332456975
do those actually improve anything? i would think they reduce air flow... anyone try these?

Ya, I wouldn't mind knowing what people think of this filter. I want a shielded filter, and ractive's stuff isn't that bad. (But not the best either. LOL)
i couldn't imagine that being any benefit......now a heat sheild to go in between the filter element, and the motor, but not a sheild to completely surround the filter......

I got one of the earlier version, without the little Candy colour, and the little aerodynamic holes in the front, Mine works good, don't know anything about the newer version, Mine give me a little wistling sound as i press trottle, that sound comme one when the filter got mass entry of air, I found it cool, mine is carbon fiber immitation, nice looking but don't think of an Impressive improvement, after all This is just an air filter,
as you guy said, not the best not the worst!
I personnaly buy it caus it was in sale, same price as other, nothing VERY impressive
see ya

I just ordered the older model metal heat shield by Ractive. Ractive is a good company for the entry-level enthusiast. They don't make the best stuff, but what they do make is not entirely crap...its actually pretty good. Most of my performance parts are by Ractive. Intake, hedders, exhaust, tip, etc. I am very happy with them!
Ya, it may look that way, I agree, but I am sure the designers would not develop something that would restrict your performance. The front end is open and that should be enough air for a stock CRXsi engine to suck in. I saw one in the shop, then they seem pretty wide open. I dont think it would decrease the amount of air entering the intake pipe. CheerS!

Yep, I thought it's maybe not the best filter for a Turbo engine but probably for anything with base mods it will be Very fine in there!
I really don't think they will make anything that is restrictive, they surely test them, I think they won't upgrade the design of the line for nothing.
see ya !!
