Gotta get my car through emissions today or tomorrow...last minute tips?
Everybody keeps saying run a little alchohol for insurance...(B16A w/ stock exhaust manifold, hollowed cat, skunk2 exhaust...) I'm trying to not have to rip everything off for stock stuff.

x2, unless for whatever reason you don't have a tailpipe test over there and its all just visual.

Your going to seriously need a new cat. Don't rely on alchohol for "insurance." Run cheap gas like "87" octane or even 85(you can find it at some arcos.) If you have synthetic oil change it to regular 10w-30, just for the smog.
I passed with flying colors with a b16 with a new cat and ran shitty gas with shitty oil.

Get a catalytic converter on the car. It will give you a better chance of passing. Running without a catalytic converter is the perfect way to fail the test.

Umm why not? I have gone both ways with no problem. I run regular oil in the winter and synthetic in the summer.

Not true... take for instance synthetic blends. The only real time it make a difference is on break in... run dino-oil for break in.

dude make sure you get a good cat, i got a small one that the muffler shop said should pass. it didnt pass, not even close. the guy at the smog shop told me to get the big *** one next time.
i've heard that cheaper cats have less catalytic material, which is expensive, and therefore, won't pass.
if you can't get a cat on in time, you can just pay the reg fee first.

sorryto thread jack but im forced to run my car through AZ emissions before the 27th...
heres what i got:
98' b18c1
high flow Catco cat.
magnaflow oval muffler
greddy intake (carb approved)
dc 4-1 (carb approved)
chipped pre-obd ecu.
walbaro (sp?) 255 high pressure fuel pump
99' integra fuel filter
this motor is in a 91' crx si the problem is its a high compression build, aprox 11.3:1 cr. do they test my ecu? smog run? PLEASE share any helpful tips we could use.

Put the PCV- valve on. Put the CAT if you have one. And drive hard about 30mins before test. So the engine and cat would be hot enough.
You normally get a free test if you fail the first one.
I suggest you run it as stock as you can.
Actually make an attempt to pass it correctly with all the proper emissions equipment.
If it fails then it will give you a really good base to go from for your second (free) test.
If you go there with all kinds of crap in your gas and this and that tweaked then you won't know what made you fail and then you will be stressing trying to figure out what to do.
The only fuel suggestion I have for you is to put a low octane fuel in.
Since you have a B18C1 then 89 is probably the octane that is good for smog.
I would normally suggest an even lower octane, but since you have a higher compression motor then running too low of an octane will heat up the combustion chamber and make your NoX go up.

As for emmissions I had a bit of problem passing my b16a so I sourced a PM6 ecu and ran it off that for the test and passed no problem. No VTEC but also lower emissions. Just a thought.

Exactly, if it would ruin your internals why would there be oil blends. I think I'll keep with my routine until I see definitive proof changing oils damages the engine.

i need to get my car tested and its a 89 crx si w/ stock motor i use 89 octane and im using an obx high flow cat and a skunk2 catback exhasut any suggestions on what i should do to pass if this setup won't. thanks
Yeah...got a year long waiver and didn't have to pay...Didn't even have to drop my car any more than how I normally ride, wooo.. Best way to pass emissions=low car! lol.
