Default Want to get honest opinion...b16 head on b18c

Just out of curiosity wondering if anyone in here has this set up presently, and if so how it is working out for them. I could get a complete GSR swap and what not, but if I get the bottomend and still have the b16 head lying around, I figure why not use it. Benefits? Issues? Let me know.

Ryan (b18flip) told me that on a boosted app. a GSR head was better. He came to this conclusion after speaking with HEAD from headgames in NJ. I don't know why, but pm either one of them and see what they say about that

I run this. Perfect fit, easier access to intake manifolds, and compatible with all other gsr head parts. Plus its cheaper to find replacements heads on ebay.

If you already have the head and transmission, then why not use them?

How much is compression lowered? I'm running this setup, and it's supposed to have a 9:1 c/r.

I thought the b16 head flows better...? so rather then "why not use it" isn't that the best choice? (assuming you comensate for the lower compression)

I'm runing this setup and I honestly think that its a good setup even with the pros and cons of lossing compression... Just use a thinner head gasket and u'll be fine plus with the b16 tranny u'll be reving quicker so do it.. U wont be dissapointed.. lmk what happens..

Actually a poormans type-r includes type-r pistons and cams...So this is more like a poor mans type-r for boost.

I would use the B16 head,,it flows better then the gsr head.. But i would get different cams..
