Default i have a little bit of a problem and i need HELP NOW!!!

ok so i just finished my ls-v set up in my 99 si...b18a1 block with 89 b16 head..i was using a 97 gsr water pump 22t...with a gsr timing belt...i noticed my water pump seal was bad so i switched it with my 99 b16 water pump because they both say 22t on there...so i figured it be the same...after putting the belt on i noticed the car isnt running right...seems like its a tooth off...so i just bought a b16 timing belt...which i measured with the gsr belt and the b16 ones seems shorter and also im having a really hard time gettin my new belt on...can some one help me out here?

you need the b16 timing belt if your running the b16 cam ggears and water pump!! If your using GSR head, cam gears, and water pump then you want the GSR timing belt.

You just wasted some money. A LS/VTEC with GSR/"R" water pump requires a GSR/"R" belt. With ls water pump, an LS belt. The B16 pump is the same as a GSR/ "R" pump 22 teeth.

I woud like to see you stretch a b16 belt around that setup. Why post if u dont know. Even if you never built one its common sense that it wouldnt work.

What are you talking about!! This is the correct way B16 belt with b16 pump and gears or gsr for gsr pump and gears!!

I just built my ls/vtec and its the same, B18a1 block with 97 GSR head, water pump, and cam gears and I am running the GSR belt. If I were useing a B16 head with B16 cam gears and water pump then I would have to use the B16 belt!!

Wouldn't the deck height make this impossible? Never tried it, just made sense to use B18 parts on B18 motors.....

yes i learned the hard way...for some odd reason the b16 timing belt doesnt fit on my set up so im using a b16 water pump and a gsr belt...and it works..both gears have 22t..so im guessing there the same...

wtf!?! no way a b16 belt will fit on the 1.8l block with the deck height being so much taller. btw: b16 and b18c cam gears are the same!

i would think that the b16 head would require the type r belt (im not sure if it is the same as the gsr) and a gsr head would take the gsr belt assuming youre using a gsr/itr/b16 water pump.

who ever told u to use a B16 timing belt with an LS/VTEC build, go kick em in the ***. theres no way its gonna fit cuz the belt will be too short due to the longer deck height of a B18 block compared to a B16 block. in any LS or B20/VTEC build, if u use a LS water pump u need to use a LS timing belt. if u use a GSR. B16, or type R (all the same) water pump then u need to use a GSR timing belt (same as type R). and ALL b series cam gears r the same!

use ur GSR belt, fill the radiatore with fluid and bleed the system first before u go take the car out for a drive. also check your timing with a tming light

easiest way to explain it
LS pump(19t) = LS belt
GSR(22t)pump = GSR belt
on any b18 or b20 motor w/any b series vtec head

Dude thats great in theory but if you would have thought about what you were saying you would realize that the deck height of the ls block is taller than the b16s and the b16 belt wont work.
