welding ss test pipe

my question is can i weld a mild steel o2 bung to a ss test pipe with a gas shielded mig welder?
Also i know it might rust and i don't care about that just will it work?

Yeah, it will do fine. Use stainless filler metal....preferable 309, but if you have another grade already, it would be fine.
