Default Exhaust for ITR?

Ha What is the best exhaust for a Stock or All Motor ITR. I am looking at the Mugen, Apexi N1, and the New Tanabe Racing Super Medalion. I want one that will give me the most power and the weight of the exhaust was to be light too. How much power will I get from the three exhaust that I am looking at is there Dynos.
O I got a AEM CAI on the ITR. I want exhaust next. I want to see what you people say on the other exhaust systems too other than the three that I'm looking at.

Thanks

Before you get an exhaust since you are so intent on that a nice header system would do your all motor car a lot more good. Either the DC JDM, JDM 4-1, or the big name companies such as Toda, Mugen, Spoon. Exhaust wont do much for a pretty stock ITR. wait for the exhaust.

just my .02

ITR b-pipe w/ Mugen twin loop on my Si. I'm spent.
Tanabe & N1 have good flow characteristics but insanely loud to me. This may not be an issue to yourself, but know you will attract attention and not just from passer-by's either. Deffenetly do not need any more attraction from law enforcement. Take in all factors before purchasing. Good luck man.
Later.

OK,

First, in the friendliest way, you should do a SEARCH on this topic and not only learn whats available and works but also what and how it is manufactured so you can tell the difference between junk and good stuff. So just a recap; the Search function is your friend.

Second, Mike is right, a good header is where you will unleash the power, a catback is not going to yield nearly half the HP&TQ that a good header with a 60mm collector mated to a high flow cat will provide.

GoTo: http://www.automotiveperformanceengi...om/header.html This is the link to a Dyno done with most of the top headers for the ITR and Si/CTR.

Third, if after the header and cat you still want a Good Catback. Then there are 3 that are tops and come to mind:

1. SMSP
2. Hytech
3. Kakimoto-R

But, before you spend your money on the catback, you should first shell out some loot for a set of good camgears and tune your car with it's now new header and cat on a local Dyno. You will never see the proper potential of your car with any mods IE: bolt ons or whatever without proper dyno tuning.

Do it the right way the first time...

Good luck, and I hope you don't want that catback just to be annoying and attract loads of negative Police and public attention.

A.

Well said 1GreyTeg. We should use that response everytime the question is asked.

Just wondering about the Apexi N1 exhaust, how loud is it? Is it loud all the time or when the VTEC engages? I would'nt mind if it's really loud above 6000rpm as long as it's quiter below 6000.

it's pretty loud all of the time--this is pretty typical from a canister style exhaust. a silencer is available, though, that does make the noise much more bearable.

Both the Kakimoto R and Hytech have a true 2.5" b-pipe and both look very nice to me. The piping on the SMSP is nice too, but I just don't like the style of their muffler. If you are want some serious NA power, you will need a true 2.5" exhaust.

What about after the header/cat. Are there any good exhausts for around 500. I don't care that much about sound (at the very least a quiet one would be better). Which ones give the best power gains?

Wow, I've never seen anything like this question before. Am I the only one that has never seen this extremely common topic that has been covered countless times?

Anyway, the stock ITR exhaust is spectacular. What you're paying for with these aftermarket thingies is that fine bajito style chrome look for your ride, a huge inflatable love style doll tip, and a very free flowing exhaust that has reduced some of the bottlenecks of the stock system. Expect to see some HP gains.
I have however read several topics where people have switched back to stock. I don't remember who, but one sold his Apex N1 and switched back to stock. Yoshi on the boards here was selling his Fireball exhaust. Have you ever stood outside the car and have someone pull away from you with a stock ITR in VTEC? It's pretty sweet. Won't blow anyones eardrums in or anything. If you want loud get a 3" tubing setup. You'll lose horsepower, but it will feel fast.
Its best to listen personally to some of the exhausts. Like at a ITR meet. Ask for a ride in someones car. I don't think anyone here can "tell" you how loud an exhaust is. You need to experience it. Good luck bro!

Ha thanks for the rebly. I forgot to talk about the header part is 10:45 at night man the day when I put that post up and I was tire. Ok the header I'm looking at the spoon, Toda, or the SMSP (the great header test-post). But which one is the best for road racing/autox and drag. I'm not racing the car on the tracks but I'll get on it on the street. I want a sleeper. O and the cops I live in Greenville, South Carolina and the cops don't care about it that much about the sound. But I don't want a very loud exhaust when the car is doing 4000-4500 or 5000rpm but after that I don't care, because is a ITR. O and the Spoon catalytic jack I'll get that too so I'll have 2.5in all the way. My ITR is the only in the Greenville that is not wrack yet and there is about 10 or less ITR in town. So I'm not racing the car.

Thanks man for your help

I've got a mugen header to a carsound cat, to the mugen B-pipe to the twin loop. I love the sound, its not loud and I noticed some nice gains. I've been told my car sound nice by others also.

If you just beginning to mod I would suggest a lighter flywheel and a different final drive to start out with. You will see more results with these mods then any header exhaust combo out there (except maybe hytech and smsp)
