LS motor overheats, loud clicking noise from engine block.
ever since i drove my car hard, the engine made a LOUD clicking noise...and overheats...to the point that my radiator hose grew in size and popped
. the engine will increase the clicking noise as the rpms raise. if i drive the car around long enough the engine will overheat and result in engine shutdown. i've gone so far as to replace the whole entire LS head with a new one and its still doing the same thing. so that rules out the need for a valve adjustment and thermostat. the problem lies in the engine block. What im thinking is that perhaps it might be the oil pump, water pump or the rod bearings. before i would want to take this out to a mechanic as a last resort, which im not really inclined to. I would like to hear from anyone with knowledge on this matter so that i might be able to diagnose and fix the problem. thanks.

sounds like its the water pump. the oil pump or anything else that has to do with oil wouldnt cause the hose to burst. did you see the hose grow and then burst? my old dsm had a coolant hose blow, and i replaced the hose, and filled the radiator with coolant. BUT, i didnt burp the sustem long enough, so after it ran for a few minutes the main radiator hose collapsed lol. i dont know what the cause of the engine knocking could be; im just guessing it could be a bad rod bearing. do you rev it past 7k?
yup after the engine overheated, i opened the hood to let it cool down...and to my dismay i saw wut looked like an overgrown wart on the radiator hose
. but yea the hose bursted and out went the coolant. and no i didnt rev past 7k...i kept it at a safe 5-6k rpm constant. but yea i wouldn't rule out a bad rod either. however, when i rev it up it sounds pretty linear not like it struggles or anything. soo wut u guys think?

yup i replace all the gaskets...intake, exhaust and the block itself. but it wouldn't be the cause of the knocking thats for sure

the description of the sound would most likely be a spun bearing...not very healthy at all..overheating? i have no info on that..
