Any Alpine People know what head unit this is?
Model # should be on the face plate upper right hand side CDA-**** or maybe CDM-****
How old is the unit?
What kind of CD changer plug is on the back, 8pin din or unilink?

hahahhaha, you got fooled.
that is not an alpine. although looks like it, it is a knockoff. the wording on the buttons is off and i bet the sleeve is not an alpine sleeve.
can we got some pictures of the sleeve.

I could be wrong, but I thought all the MP3 playing alpines also played WMAs and listed that on the face as MP3/WMA. again, I may be wrong but that's what I can recall. I'm trying to remember back to when we first got our alpines that played MP3s... but if I recall correctly that was back in 2001/2002 or something... unless I'm being stupid and alpine had them earlier than that
its not a cda9807 or 9827. those were the only direct loading alpine cd players with direct loading slots, silver faces and blue lights and mp3.
That is not a real alpine deck. just look at the harness and the red accesory wire with that black (fuseholder) in line with it. the silkscreen is way off, but maybe its made in the same factory that builds the real alpine decks for alpine.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yea, that's not an Alpine harness, I checked our Alpine dealer site and could not find that unit, and asked our Alpine rep. He didn't know what it was, He suggested that it may have come from one of the plants that lost an Alpine contract, and had a bunch of parts left over, [shitload of faceplates] or possibly a HU not available in North America, he also said if it is using the Alpine logo, or one the could be confused with the Alpine logo Alpines lawyers would have jumped all over it, the other thing he said was it could have been a counterfit that got through before the lawyers shut it down. he asked me if I could get a better pic. or set, ones from all sides

it's definitely not an alpine - you can tell by the spacing of the four buttons on the left - also the face release is in the wrong spot - it just looks "wrong" from all angles...
yeh when i installed it.. i was like wtf? the "FAD" and the "BAL" was off? like wayy off.. the balance was the FADE and the fade was the BALANCE.. lmao.. and i stripped all wires too? and started over.. re-checked all my speaker lines to see that the colors were correct.. and it seem'd correct.. so yeh  i gave it to my pops.. and took his sony.. it lights up AMBER =] JDM BABY.. haha. but yeah.

You could say that again!!!!
I don't need to see a clearer picture of it. You could tell the thing's fake. The buttons are too far apart from each other.

It looks like one of the 98xx series......but i hope the camera screwed up the color....otherwise i say fake. But yeah, the upper right of the cd player should say it.....if it is part of the 98xx series....it is above the 9835 - thats the first of the 98xx series with MP3.......it looks like it has WAY too many alpha-numeric characters there.

definantly get more pics so they don't try to pass of any more "fake" alpines and cause a chance that my customers may hear about "how bad alpine is".. such as your experience
EDIT> Where did you get it from anyhow?

</TD></TR></TABLE>From looking at my ALPINE...the harness looks a tad different and the "MP3" lettering looks cheap...sorta like a "PYLE" unit. It maybe a "reject" model like those found at Wal-Mart. Looks simiilar but the model numbers are not even found on the product line-up.
FAKE!!
