automatic transmission problem?
Ok, I bought a 2000 Civic new when it came out and made the mistake of buying an automatic since I basically knew nothing about cars, I was 16, and basically was just happy to be getting a new set of wheels to match that shiny new license. Anyway, I supercharged it last August (JRSC about 7psi) and it's been running fine until this past weekend.
So I'm driving on the highway, doing about 70 or so. I want to pass someone, so shifting down to D3 (automatic remember), I step on the gas and off I go. After about 1-2 seconds, a LOUD noise of something resembling a cracking or breaking is made (possibly metallic), and a jolt is sent through the car that initially struck me as a connecting rod (****!) but turns out it wasnt since the car is still driveable. BUT, it stalled when it did this, and why this happened is still unknown to me. I've been off the boost since this happened last weekend, and haven't been driving it rough at all, so all was ok for getting around. My check engine light was not on after this happened, but it came on yesterday, almost a week after this mishap. It also stalled again today, with a metallic sound "jumping around" at stoplights before it stalled (and it stalled while moving too, engine ~2500rpm, not at a stop).
Now my hypothesis is some component of the transmission finally gave way and snapped, broke, whatever, and is lodging itself somewhere that allows it to be tossed around (metallic noise). The stalling is possibly it getting stuck somewhere its obviously not supposed to be, since the engine seems electrically sound, so I'm assuming that the stalling is purely mechanical.
Ignoring my hypothesis, what does this sound like to you guys?

Yea, I'll get back to you on this. But in the meantime, just the symptoms alone, what does this sound like? Anybody with a clue?
Eh, i dunno, but I'm not liking the CEL since I don't think the ecu would know about that. I'll have to get the code its throwing.
It turns out the CEL was independent of this situation... it's an O2 sensor. Anyway, the car seems to drive fine most of the time, leading to the fact that maybe it was a part of the torque converter, since it engages fine and doesnt grind. I'm now leaning towards a 5spd swap anyway, so whatevers wrong just better not get worse until i get it done.
