Default Starter grinds with flywheel

My starter and flywheel grind everytime I start the car, i'm not sure what the cause is. My flywheel is an ACT lightened POS and the clutch is a homebrew from 2 different makes. I know of how some jun flywheels grinded with starters. I plan on swapping both the clutch and fw soon, but want to know what the cause is and if it's eating up my starter.

solenoid might get dstuck and not retract starter pinion gear fast enough or the starter may have to be shimmed back into place, suggest removal (2 bolts) inspection of gear for wear and reinstall to proper tq settings, should solve it - just like shaking a broken remote controll always works afterwards.

It's a lightened OEM.

check your connections on the starter
right after i installed my o2 sensor i accidentally loosened a connection on the starter wich caused it to grind HORRIBLY everytime i started the car.

Is your flywheel lightened OEM honda, or ACT? Aluminum flywheels warp when exposed to moisture.... which causes starter and clutch problems... Stick with something stronger... not made of aluminum... like Exedy

Well that did the trick. I removed it, said some nasty things to it, and reinstalled with luck. The teeth on the starter were fine, and the viewable flywheel teeth were ok as well.
