Who tried this? Taking out the filter on your intake and then putting a stocking over the intake while the filter is gone. My friend has it on his 95 LS teggy stock and it is so loud. Anyone ever try this? Is this harm to your car? He wants me to do it to my teg also but I am asking you guys if this is bad.

get an exhaust if u want noise... you basically paid for that filter when you bought that aem intake... so now u want to take if off? good way to waste your money

i wouldnt do it, aem filter is a good filter. you can try it i guess but make it temporary

Im not saying leave the pipe open. What if you close it with a stocking so that means more air will be sucked in?

i dunno bout that? but there is probably a reason for the aem filter costing alot, i dont have one but its probably designed to help suck air in. i dunno, im going to bed now.

try it and see if u feel a difference?

ok filter is there for a reason first of all because of its structure its made to pass thru enuff air and to stop particles
2 didn u happen to nottice actual filter area size compared to pipe size? its there for a reason too now compare the size of a sock pulled over the intake
what u doing is decreasing the filter area and blocking the airway if u dont belive me u can do something to clear it up for you

take ur friends filter or any filter in the store, bring ur sock(ghetto filter) with u and blow
thru the sock and then thru the filter im sure u will feel the difference in air flow
because socks are not made to be filters lol
they are only temporary solutions but a better solution in that case is to get some cheap filter to put in place of urs( get the cheapest one u can get ) it will save u lotsa money later and u will be laugin at ur friend who will be tryin to figure out why his car is loosing power

TB = throttlebody .

you must be a young guy... or atleast im hopin for wanting to do this for more "noise" . id suggest keeping the filter on , sure would suck to have to replace your motor because you sucked in your "sock" .

taking your filter off isnt that great of an idea, like this guy said "u dont want to blow your motor cause u sucked in your sock"!!!!!

keep the filter on, its there for a reason, and u shouldnt really mess with it unless u know ALL the effects of it.

so a big for that one

Exactly

I would never run without my filter, just not a good idea but i dont think taking off the air filter will "hurt" the motor.
