Default VAFC intallation Q

I just bought a VAFC used. It came with the unit and the extended wiring harness. Now i just went to the apexi site to print out the manual and the parts list contains a few things that i don't have, male fitting, female fitting, male sleeve, female sleeve, and the splice.

Can i still do this installation without those things? Are there any substitutes to replace it with? And also in the manual they don't have the ecu diagram for a 2001 GSR, where can i get one or which one am i supposed to use?

I'm not sure if i can do this installation myself...I don't have much experience with electronics and i don't want to f*ck up my car. Should i just get it professionally done? Or can the people going to the Socal DYNO day on february 24th help me before i go on the dyno? thanks in advance.

Should be able to find all the electrical parts at your local Radio Shack.
As for APEXi, they released a suppliment for the 2001. Try the update on the site, it should be diagram WH-3...

Where are you from. I can install it in @ 20-30 minutes (with a helm's handy), soldering is the best when installing any electronics, as you should instead of the connectors. If you are down in SD, I'll do it for In and Out, hehehe....

For his sake, it would be nice if he was in SD.... hehe.... I'd rather pay someone than play with all the wiring...

Yeup i'm in SD, its a small world after all. Just curious if you have any references for doing this, no offense intended, i just like to make sure that the person working on my car knows what he is doing

If your NOT good at electronics, soldering, and wires, I would NOT attempt it. I just did mine last week, and the wires that are harnessed into the ECU are a tight fit. Since you admitted your not good at electronics, don't do it. I'd suggest practing soldering wires and stuff then maybe once your feel confident that do it.

I'll take you for a ride in my Prelude, rip the ecu out for inspection. I am not going to tune it, but installation is just cutting 2 wires, attaching them to the VAFC and tap into 4 wires, soldering and heat shrink is used completely. My car is my reference, hehehe. Either way, with a manual, a competent stereo shop could do it. Although, I am the cheap master, I can't afford to pay anyone, so I do it all myself. I need to save and pay for my Ludie...

Dam you sound like a cool guy......Why pay $50-$60 to have a shop install it when this guy will do it basically for free
