Default B17 Dyno 224 WHP @ 12 PSI

224 whp @ ~12 PSI

B17 stock bore
CP 10.0:1 Pistons
DSM 450 cc injectors
Inline Pro 2mm headgasket
Inline Pro exhaust manifold
3 Inch downpipe/exhaust system
V-AFC tuned
T3/T4 turbo (Came off of a Drag Gen 3 turbo kit)

My friend had his B17 dynoed today and he was dissapointed that the numbers came out low. Would a SC61 and Hondata fix this problem?

Yea they are very low. Should make around 270 at that boost level depending on the compressor trim. I say get some adjustable cam gears to try and get that thing to make some more power.

Something is very wrong....check the compression and then get a retune on some real engine management.

You will need to do something with the timing I suspect, so no a bigger turbo wouldn't but hondata most likely will.

ah yes, forgot to mention, purple smoke comes out when he hits the boost hard. But when he's driving normal, there is no smoke. I'm guessing this is a matter of how it was honed. he will get the compression checked out today...

I would think that he would make more power than that with the afc hack unless the timing was being increased so much that it exceeded the knock threshold. Are you sure it isn't pinging or anything?

exactly. check the spark plugs, perhaps its seeing inaudible detonation, or the motor just was not broken in well/rings did not seat properly.

and purple smoke??? sure its not blue? also, i know the motor is built, but the a/f seems to be in the 12-12.5:1 range. doesnt that seem a little lean especially with all the timing in the maps from the hack?

answer is tuning and get a better fuel mangement...crome or hondata...

10:1 c/r, 84mm
itr cams
stock head

@12 psi yield 332whp w/
60-1 garret turbo

but most definately you should be 270+++

try doing a compression check... you know its not ignition problem since your dyno is pretty consistance and solid no gaps in powerband

Thats some low numbers on the hax. I boosted my b17 2 years ago with a rev hard kit and sc34 and vafc hax with 450 injectors. I had it on 10psi all the time and it felt good at the time. I never dynoed it, cause i poped a head gasket and bent valves..

What are the specs on the turbo and and who tuned it?

I'm not sure about the specs on teh turbo. It's my friends car and he got the turbo off of a Drag Gen 3 kit...

Inline Pro tuned it
