Rod knock, head knock, tick tock, WHAT THE FOCK!!!
I just pulled my block apart. Before doing this, I had a knock so loud, I could hear it from inside the car with the hood and door closed. So I was inspecting and noticed #4 cylinder has scratch's that run the whole length of the cylinder. The front and back look like someone sanded it down. I then looked at my rod bearings. All of them look good except #4. But #4 is just a little scrathed. Now, I know it makes sense on were the noise was coming from, but It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. The bearings were'nt even worn down. Just a little on #4. This is my first time pulling a block apart.
Can something that looks this small be the cause of the loud knocking?
From the sound of it, I figured there wouldn't even be a bearing left, and that the crank journal would be is such bad shape, I would have to get a new crank. Let me know if this is normal.

check for collapsed rings on that piston and also check the wrist pin you may be hearing "piston slap" just my .02
I got a piston that is scratched up pretty good, out of that same cylinder. It's not reusable thats for sure. So now I get a good idea from were the noise was coming from, what could have caused it? My bearing doesn't look bad at all. It looks like the damage started at the piston, and then on to the bearing? Is that what you mean by a collapsed ring?
Also, your the guy with the hookups headers right? If so, are you making them for the h22 yet?
