Default Catalytic and exhaust advice for a n00bie ('98 Coupe LX V6)...

My check engine light went on and waddaya know? The stealership says the cat is shot. My car has been sitting for a while though and maybe I just need to use it a lot to clear it out but if it is indeed the cat, I think I'll go with Random Technology. I called them up and they quoted me 242+ which is a hell of a lot cheaper than what the dealer told me (1200 installed). Are there any other hi-flo cat manufacturers I should check out? If I do end up getting the cat, I almost certainly will upgrade the exhaust too. Anyone want to recommend one? I'm leaning towards Tanabe or HKS or GReddy. I don't want one that will wake up the neighbors.
Thanks.

I've had good luck with MagnaFlow on my '97 SE. I wouldn't hesitate recommending their products; AND they make a truely Knarly stainless version for the V6

98-02 Accord 3.0L V6 Sedan/Coupe, Dual Exit,
5x8x14" Muffler, 2.25" Tubing, Rear Exit, Oval Tips, Magnaflow Cat-Back System

Magnaflow PN# 15640
$558.00 w/free shipping from: http://www.fulllineexhaust.com

You can do a GOOGLE search under "Magnaflow 15640" should have all manner of vendors and prices pop up, but these were the guys I ended up with.

You won't find a nicer system. Beautiful welds, all polished stainless. If the design effort and quality are any indication, then indeed you do get what you pay for.

No, and I have to say it's probably got the deepest (lowest) pitch that I've heard out there. Inside the car you will know it's there, but outside it's only slightly louder than stock at idle, and even when you "get on it" it's still very pleasing without drawing "to much attention", if you know what I mean.
