disturbing noise from a/c

after having the a/c on for a few minutes a noise starts that sounds like a cricket is dying inside my car. it is very annoying and i was wondering if anybody has any experience with this.

is it the ac belts screeching? the only thing i can think it might be if you have the a/c on is the belt or the compressor.

Well, is the ac cold? At the worst, it could just be your compressor dying out. Nothing you can do about that.

ya its still cold, my guess was that it was the belt also.
