Default Weird CEL occurance

Hey guys,

Just had a quick question. I recently took a cross country drive and i ran a CEL when i was out in CA, i checked it out by borrowing/renting a obdII scanner from autozone. It was the primary O2 sensor - low voltage code. I didn't think anything of it since it's not 'required' to fix it immediately. I also thought that by not fixing the o2 sensor before a long drive would yield bad gas mileage the whole way home (va). Fortunately i didn't lose the gas mileage, averaging about 33mpg the whole way home.

Well on the way to the Honda dealership a couple days ago to pick up the o2 sensor (1 of 8 in the area had it in stock) the CEL goes out....? That's fine, that's $200+ that i don't have to spend. But why did this happen? i didn't change it or anything.

The only thing i noticed was that all the gas pumps WEST (edit) of WV only had up to 91 octane (the minimum required by Honda for my engine). Until then i've always filled up with the 'premium' gas around here which is 93. Could this have caused the error....? i don't understand. No problem here i was just curious as to the reason it went out. I might have to check the led incase it went out.

you might have been running lean on the 91 octane. Reset your ecu and see if it comes back.

If the CEL went off the failure was obviously only intermittant. Could have been the gas, could have been a fluke thing. As long as you don't keep throwing a code each time you reset the ECU. Pull the underhood 15a fuse.
