Default Turbo Questions

Hey im going turbo on my single cam but i was wondering what d sereis motor is a good motor to boost on? and how much would the motor cost? your opinions will really help my decision. thanks

if i was gonna boost a d series i would boost the dohc zc....or a mini me swap...both are pretty cheap

what motor has like a low compresion to start off with? what would be a good boost pressure to start off with?

I would have thought the mini-me as not good for boost. Higher compression and the larger lobes complicate things.

You can always lower the compression with a thicker headgasket.


You may have better luck putting this post in the forced induction forum.

Higher compression just makes tuning more crucial. A nicely tuned higher comp motor can make the same power with less psi as a lower comp motor. The cam profiles arent bad as the vtec lobe is only on the intake side, overlap isnt as big an issue on sohc as it is on dohc.
