d16y8 into integra shell questions
I bought a integra shell that was just missing the b18c engine. I put a d16y8 motor into it. Or at least my buddy did and i helped towards the end. It had the y8 in it after i bought it, and by no means is it a permanent motor swap. I will have a bigger motor soon enough, but in the meantime the y8 will work. My question is that the abs light is on and so is the engine light. I know why the engine light is on, and the abs light is probably due to the fact that the gsr has anti locking brakes and the ecu that is in the car is obdII non vtec single cam ecu. so my question is this, the car doesn't have a rpm signal? where is this signal located and routed to the cluster. does the siganl come from the distributor or the ecu. And second, is there a ecu that will work with the sohc motor and operate the abs?

You made a good point, I bet that is it. Thanks. although, does the 99 civic ex have abs? if so, wouldn't the sensor be almost in the same place, would the sohc axel work for the abs system in the gsr? or would I have to modify an axel or just disconnect the abs system if that is even possible?

No. There is no need to.... A b series car? the whole problem was that I was using a OBDIIb motor and a obdII chassis. it has nothing to do with what series of engine I have. Either way the problem has been solved, and for anybody who cares to know, this was the issue.
The obdIIb d16y8 distributor didn't have a rpm output from the dizzy like the pre obdIIb setups. All I had to do was run a line from the negative line on the coil to the pinout on the dizzy plug, and viola, rpm signal is done.
