okay i had missshifted and took my valve cover off today and found one of my valve retainers broken in half. i didnt feel like putting the valve cover back on instead i just put it over it and did not screw it back on. my question is that if i leave it like this will the inside start to rust. like where my cams are???? if yes then what can i do to prevent that. should i cover it up with something??? i don't have a garage, only a damn driveway. any opinions are appreciated

 

i would think everything is oiled enough already, but I would at least PLACE the valve cover back on.

 

yes i did put the valve cover back on but i jsut didnt screw it back into place should it be fine though???

 

I think you should be fine as long as its sitting flush.

The insides wont rust if its got motor oil all over it. The motor oil contain additives that prevent rust from happening.

 

it wont rust but if you try to run the motor that way it will leak oil

id definitely fasten the valve cover down
