Oh god we had a thread about this just about a week ago. Go read up on that.

The H22A weighs just aout 30-60 pounds heavier than a B18.
To say that's "heavy" is ridiculous, becuase you'll be gaining about 45 lbs of torque.
It's funny you say that it is very hard and expensive, yet you tell him to do a K series swap?
K series motors run about 5 grand.
H series are about 2.

Master Shake, why are you such a jerk off?
My friend did this swap into his 90 hf and it came out ok. it took him awhile to get the wiring right, and he had to put a 2000 Si cluster in to work with the speed sensor, he sold it and already has plans to do it again. I think its a cool idea for a swap, but its a pretty big motor for the size engine bay.

Why am I such a jerk off?
One thing is that this question was just answered about a week ago, which the thread I was very involved in. Just maybe a little irritated that this question was JUST answered, yet another thread comes up. H22 into an EF isn't that new of a subject, and yes the question has been answered numerous times.
Number two is some guy comes in and says the usual myth that h22s are "heavy and expensive", when that's more of an opinion than fact.

Now that's more useful information than to say that it's "heavy and expensive". I guess I'm just tired that a couple of years ago people said it was "stupid and wasteful" to drop in a h22 into an eg, but now the same people are saying that it's a good swap. Same thing will happen to h22s in efs.
H22 will never be a very popular motor like the B series, but that does not mean that it's not a good motor. Alot of people say that they don't like H22s because they drove one of their friend's preludes. But an h22 in a prelude is waaaaaaay different than an h22 in a hatch.

Yea 5 grand for the MOTOR plus mount kit, plus wiring, shiftlinkage, custom header, the list goes on... Ive heard of the end process coming out to about 10k when your done. The h22 is fairly cheap, it isnt "heavy" if you have descent suspension that can be tuned then you will have no problem. So many people make it sound like the H22 weighs as much as a small block chevy.

The H22a isn't heavy. It's that having a 2.2l weighing 45lbs more than the stock motor makes a Civic/CR-X nose heavy. This means if you like to attack those corners, good luck with a H22 EF. H series motors are cheaper than most B series engines, just go look at hmotorsonline.com or passwordjdm.com
Everybody always jumps on the bandwagon regarding the H22 weight. It isn't that much heaver than a BSeries motor, and with a good suspension you'd have no trouble as far as handling is concerned. People make it out like it will make your car nothing more than a straight line car!
WRONG! Misinformation spreads like wildfire through Honda-tech...

I think alot of people say that the h22 is heavy because they drove one in a prelude weighing 3000lbs.
Most people just sit there and speak out of their ***, claiming how "heavy" it is, when in all actuality they've probably never even driven one.
Every person that I've talked to that actually HAD an h22 into an EG or EF say that it's NOT that bad. It's not like your driving a Yenko Camaro all of a sudden.

What? Yes. A buddy of mine also had an H22 EG hatch, and it rode just like any other lowered hatch. I never really noticed anything - except how quick it was with just bolt ons!

Yes siree, the friend of mine had a h22 into an EF. Seemed like any other EF when driving around, except that it pulled like no other.
