Default Help, fuel pump

Just purchased 98 gsr and there is a high flow fuel pump installed. Problem: when the tank is half full it acts like the tank is empty and when I fill it up again it only takes about 6 gallons. I'm planning on dropping the tank to see what the problem is (figure I'll look in Chilton's or Haynes for that). Anyone have any suggestions?

I would just pull the pump out (no need to remove the tank) and make sure the filter and lines are hooked up properly.

Thanks, I'll check that out tomorrow. Still referring to the Chilton's b/c I just got this car and not use to this engine. I'll be sure to tell you what I come up with. And don't worry, you'll be seeing plenty of questions since this car just needs little bit of T-L-C. Got it cheap though.

i've seen similar symptoms in cars that have large dents in the fuel tanks.
