00-01 keys in earlier year DC2?
The final years of the DC2 had the key with the transponder chip. They key itself was different in appearance as well. I prefer this key, and the current RSX/TSX/TL keys to the older style ones.
My question is this: do the newer keys work in the older cylinders? I would like to just buy an 01 Integra key and have it cut for my car. The chip simply won't be programmd since my car doesn't have the chip reader.
What about RSX, TSX, etc keys?

Bleh, I hate that key.
BTW I don't own an ITR, but the regular Integra forum sucks ***** so I figured I'd ask in here (since you are all a lot more knowledgeable).

Since you don't own an ITR, that's not surprising.

So, you're saying that - for example - it's okay to ask about the price of IBM stock, because someone here might know about it? Even though this forum is SUPPOSED to be a place to discuss the ITR?

If you have questions about your GS-R, post about them in the Integra forum. And you're wrong about the Integra forum. There's plenty of knowledge there.

I don't really understand the whole thing with this. Ive been looking at both forums for quite some time. People in the type R forum talk all high and mighty. If you don't believe it, Sit back and look.
People talk like their type r integra owns the world and other integras are inferior but everyone knows the S2000 or NSX will own it hands down. I don't even want to hear dollar for dollar **** either.
I think there's more REAL practical knowledge here, than in the ITR forum. More statistical can be found there. Less DIY people can be found there as well.
so whoever that gsr guy is, Maybe you should join your group type R buddies.
But while your finger is up your *** over there the answer will be sitting right here in THIS forum.
That answer is, Yes: My s2000 key(2000) will fit into the slot of my integra. If it was cut properly it LOOKS like it will work properly.
PS: Its lame as hell for you to try and make your car seem newer to others that see your keys by retrofitting a newer key into it

I do regret my comments about the standard Integra forum sucking. I think there is a lot of info in this forum since there's just so many members, but sometimes I feel this forum gets some really really lame threads with posts like "yo will this aem intake give me 12 horsepower so i can beat my brothers pontiac grand am in a street race downtown." The ITR forum gets a lot of those cool threads like the TL caliper retrofit, we don't see a lot of those in this forum. So again, I apologize for my anti-Integra forum comments.
I just think that for a sporty/luxury car, the earlier Acuras had really cheap looking keys. An Acura should have a classy key. It's not like I model the key (as someone said above), but sometimes I'm embarassed by my key. Laugh all you want.

dude.. wtf.
you complain about lame threads, and you're worrying about your key. This IS the lamest thread I've read in a long long time.

if you want the t5 chip key, then yes. you can use a chipped key into the older years. it's the same blank. just that the t5 has a chip in it to program.
the sidewinder key on the other hand is a different deal.
i'm running a honda t5 key for integra which does have an immobilizer. so i had to program it. but why do i have a honda one? cause i worked there it and only me 10 bucks to cut and chip.
versus 100 for any other customer. t5 key blank is not cheap.
