Default question about rotor cap?

I was wondering what is the correct way to change the rotor cap? I want to replace it because sometimes at a low rpm my motor will skip and I wasnt sure if you had to use a red light.

that's pretty hard to mess up. you don't need to use a light unless you are rotating the distributor, which is unecessary for cap replacement. as long as the wires are in the correct firing order, it's fairly foolproof.

Just pull the cap off. I think it's 4 phillips screws holding the cap on. Then have someone bump the motor over {with the dist. plug unplugged to avoid starting the engine} untill the phillips screw comes around to where you can get to it with a screwdriver on the dist shaft. Be sure to use the biggest screwdriver you can to do the job because if you stip the screw head out......you will play hell getting it out. Good Luck!
