Default Viper alarm

To begin, let me tell the story. When I bought my 00 Civic Si, it came with viper alarm, which I dont even know what model it is. It wasnt working well, sometimes I cannot arm or disarm the system, so I never use the alarm anymore - in other words the alarm itself is useless. Today, I took my car to Honda shop to get oil change, and they were not aware that my alarm is POS, so they locked my car. We couldn't disarm it so we disconnect the shock sensor, lights(?) and ignition(?) just so I can drive the car. Now, I dont have no idea how the prior owner of my car installed the alarm system but there's just so many wires under the panel. I would like to remove the whole system for now. Any advice where I could get a guide how to remove the system? or "how-to"? I appreciate with any help I can get.
As you can tell from my story, I'm in the market of purchasing a new alarm system. I'm looking at the Viper 5000, any input about this alarm? or any recommendations? If I'm going to install the system myself how hard is it? The price I found at directed.com is $350.00, is there any other place I can find cheaper price?

The easiest way to remove it is to find the brain, unplug it, then follow each wire to where it was tagged into the oem wiring, there is no "set" way to install an alarm, one installer may connect a wire at one point and another installer someplace else, You can't go wrong with a DEI alarm. 94

Thanks a lot. It sounds like a good project for the weekend. Also, I was looking around for good alarm. My first choice was the Viper 5000, but I've seen people's comment about the compustar. Where could I get prices for these alarms?

Go to http://www.compustar.com for more info and dealer locator, BTW very good alarms and alarm/remote starts. Feel free to IM me if you have more Q or need more info. 94
