my b16 will no longer rev past 4000!!!
91 civic si with b16a1
not only will it not rev but it consuming the "HELL" out of some fuel!!!
i have checked the following:
fuel pump
fuel lines "just to eliminate them"
fuel filter
fuel pressure regulator "it was bad"
cleaned fuel rail
swaped injectors "just incase"
bought a new battery "needed it"
changed plugs and plug wires
unpluged ecu "for 2 days lol" just incase
now im starting to wonder if it could be the distributor or the ecu???
any thoughts?
btw the swap was done over a year ago and has almost 5000 miles since then.
thanks alot

we are talking about a rev lmit at 4k and not just stopping there, arent we?
sounds like safe mode, dunno about obdo but my obd1 gives a cel (when in safe mode) which goes off when i jump the wires (code 0). there is a warning light connected properly i guess? youre right to check fuel system, maybe get hold of a pressure sensor to check it dynamically. other than that, check ALL wires on engine/ecu. a code would make things easier.

could be distributor, run a diagnostic test on it per helms manual instructions using volt meter. It could be advancing the f*$% out it, and running like ***.
I just had the same problem with my crx. There were two wires in the distributor that werent connected all the way. It could be your map sensor or you tps. id check em all to be on the safe side.
thanks alot guys
i was kinda thinking it was the dizy or a sensor.
im just wondering why did it slowly come on while i was on a 2 hour drive home?
started at 5700 then 5600 then 5500 and so on over a 20-25 min period.
seems a lil strange to me.
wouldnt my map or my tps just fail kinda all at once?
i thought they went bad kinda like a fuse would? sorta all of a sudden..
now the distributor is a whole nother animal that i do not even understand.

A gradual change means it definataely aint wireing. is it definately a rev linit? ie: does it bounce? u need to get hold of a fuel pressure guage and check what its doin as you drive about, also, get a timing lighht as a process of elimination. could it be a mechanical problem, like brakes dragging or something?
exuse the drunken spell check. broke my arm and got an external fixator so no work for me this summer!

no its not a rev limit, because it doesnt bounce but it does just stop. it now stops at 3900.
my brakes are fine.
my fuel pressure is at 42.5 - 43 psi from idle on..
this sucks
