Default Non-Honda: BOV on EVO

Hey All,

My buddy has an 03 EVO. Another friend of ours has one also. The other guy claims that if you do not have an AVO recirculating BOV, the car will not idle worth a ****. HE also claims it helps keep the turbo spooled. Personally, I think this is a load of crap. Someone else chime in here and help me explain how this doesnt make sense.

EVO is MAF, right? So you need to re-route the BOV back into the charge system after the MAF sensor... or go speed density...

my friends talon got real messed up once he put a BOV on it for that reason because he did not re-route it

i guess I am not really sure what system they use. I have seen several posts on EVO forums about others using HKS or RFL's on thier cars.

As long as it routes back into the intake it should be fine.

The EVO reacts horribly to anything but a few select diverter valves.

You should never run a VTA bov on the EVO, no matter what anyone tells you, it is not good for the car, and will not run correctly.

I run the APS bov on my EVO, and would never run anything else.

the reason for the re-routing is the air has already been measured by the MAF and if it vented then the car will go rich since the air that once was there isnt but the computer still thinks it is since it hs been metered already

Its inbetween the filterbox and intake tube.

The car may seem fine, but I'm sure it would run better re-circulating.

MAF box is pre-turbo.. right after the air filter. It measures air "flow", not air "pressure", which is what a MAP sensor measures.

my friend has an evo and when he bought the RFL and installed it and the car ran like crap. after recirculating the BOV the can runs normal again. that RFL is still loud as hell, even being recirculated
