Default VTec Problem & VTec warm-up period... HELP

Just recently my VTec shift point seems a little intermitent. Not only that, sometimes at around 6 to 7K RPMs the engine bogs like I've run out of gas. Could this be a fuel filter or injector problem?

Also, what exactly is the warm-up time before VTec is enabled? I've noticed that it never works for about the first two minutes I drive (only if not driven for a few hours).

Thanks,
venger

Its not supposed to work cold, its kind of like a safety feature....... its not really though.... The vtec solenoid needs oil pressure to kick over the cam, when you haven't had your engine running that long most of the oil is still in the pan and therefore not up in the cylinder head, hence no vtec for a few moments..... its probably not good to rev a cold engine that high either.....

As for your cross point, that REALLY high, do you have a VAFC or something.??? other than that....check your oil, you might be running low, you may also need to clean the screen on the vtec soleniod

Yeah, you never get on it when your engine is still cold... over 80 percent of internal engine wear occurs during start-up and while the motor is cold. Check your VTEC solenoid screen like the guy who posted above me just said as well.

I have a rule of never going into v-tec or over 3k rpm until the temp gauge hits half. And even after that, it's 4k shifting for me.
