Sound Deadening Question
I just ordered a roll of B-Quiet Ultimate and a roll of B-Quiet VComp. If you don't know, B-quiet is similar to Dynamat, but cheaper and (supposedly) more efficient. I will be applying the Ultimate to as much of the interior as I can. My question is this: where would it be most effective to use the 13.5 sq ft. of VComp? I'm thinking that the wheel wells would be a good idea, or perhaps the driver's and passenger's floors. Any thoughts?
vcomp is an internal sorta thing...
Your best bet would probably be the firewall and floor, then doors, Bquiet Ultimate quieted my doors enough but the floor is the major problem... long story short, Bquiet should be used in conjunction with Vcomp, since you actually got the Vcomp too, so if you arent going to rip up the floors, put it on after Bquiet on the floor, then perhaps the rear quarters and that should more thantake that 13 ft... in all honesty, your doors probably will take it...

If you are taking the carpet up... yeah, I would, the front firewall and floor should prevent the most road noise... If you arent taking the carpet up... do the doors
so far I have used about 65 sg ft of sound deadner in my hatch. I have covered all visible areas of firewall, the complete floor pan, inside roof, rear hatch area, rear 1/4 panels, doors, and everywhere else inside the car.
In my experience, sound is like water - it needs to be sealed out. It will get in through the spaces, and small barriers are meaningless. You can see what I mean when you close your house window early in the morning to keep out the sound of leaf blowers or jackhammers: it really only gets quieter when the window is shut, not when it still has an inch to go.
Therefore, you should aim for areas where you can do large sheets. That means focus on the floor and the doors. I'd recommend against the firewall because there's so much crap up there and so little usable room that your cut-up collage of bits of Vcomp will do little but add weight, I think. Maybe a little more effective if you actually took out the dash for this install, but I bet you're not doing that.
