jacks.. straight racing ludes.. weight loss,
damn, i just pulled my car slightly uphill in a gravel driveway into my garage with a lip to get into it and damn.. this car needs a little bit of a diet..
anyways, for those of you with lowered preludes, or any car for that matter, what jack do you use? i've been looking online for low jacks for when i lower my car, but as of right now it sits 5" at the lowest point WITH a bodykit... looks weird.. but if you could link me to a jack sold online less than $100 that is possible to get down to maybe 3 1/2" that'd be great.
speaking of weight loss, anyone here pull out the back seats and put in a full roll cage or anything? i'd like to see that..

You're going to have to pay out if you want a nice floor jack that's that slim in profile. You can try harbor freight if you'd like but keep in mind their stuff isn't the best, but they do have good prices. Otherwise you'll hvae to find a normal jack and use 2x4's.

i have something like this that i got for christmas. even though it's cheap and lower quality, they usually work real good. mine has been working good for almost 2 years now.
my jack has a minimum height of about 3 1/2". i'm lowered on neuspeed sports and the jack just rubs the front lip i have.

ive been using the stock jack, takes a little extra work but im only 3 inches from the ground at the lowest point. and its impossible to get a jack under the front. i like the 2x4 idea. might even try 2x6.
Someone on here built a small ramp out of 2x4 and ply wood. Just lay a strip of playwood down and the add 1 2x4 nail down...then leave a little space and add 2 2x4 on top of each other. Nail it all together, and BAM got your self a cheap effective ramp.
there is a low profile racing hydralic aluminum floor jack on EBAY w/ 5days left as of 7-6-05. Just go to EBAY and type in 4560259065 it will go straight to it.

another vote for stock jack, then floor jack. you only need to use the stock jack once. After one corner of the car is off the ground, the floor jack will fit under all the other corners too.
well the stock jack didn't come in the car and the only one i have laying around is the type that is supposed to jack the car from the door sill or something, it has a groove to fit the door sill in it and that definatly won't work with the sideskirts i have. i guess i'll just go to that harbor freight thing...
Call 1-8Hu-LkN-ASTY .........

the HF lightweight jack doesn't have a high enough max saddle height in my opinion. it's ok for wheel changes at the track, but it doesn't get the car high enough to do any real work under the car.
i'm using a torin 2.5 ton "aluminum" jack. it's not the lightest at ~50 lbs, but the 4" saddle and 24" max lift works much better than my HF. it's pretty much the same spec as the 2 ton craftsman alum jack, which also works.
best part is the torin cost $75 (on sale) and has worked great for me. i love torin jacks.
the jack rubs my front lip but not badly. if i were any lower i'd need to use a 2x4 to get to the front tow hook. in the rear, the jack is about 2" short of being perfect for the rear tow hook. as it stands i jack from the rear subframe LCA pickup point when i need the rear end up really high.

i also use the subframe to jack the rear up high. and if you really need it high then use 2x4's for spacers in between the car and the jack. just make sure they are sturdy.
