Broke one of my rear wheel studs.. Am I okay until I get it fixed?
so i was changing wheels on the rear of my car and as i was taking the last lugnut off of my rear driver side, it snapped. now i only have 3 left.
am i okay to drive around like this for a couple of weeks as long as i drive slow and careful?
ill periodically check the lugs to make sure they're tight.
anyone with bad experiences/knowledge they want to share?
thanks in advance!

Yes, you'll be fine. I drove around (not taking it easy either) for several months with 3 lugs. Many people here are not running with a full set.
You'll be fine.

Yea my friends civic has been rolling on three lugs for since the day he got it and that was about 2 years ago. He's also quite the "spirited" driver.

I wouldn't say you should drive too slow. Like everyone said, you can get away with it until you get it fixed. Maybe its just me, but from my own personal experience, I'd say get it fixed asap. I had a friend go through the same thing, and he also.....was an extremely spirited driver. I told him just out of joke that if he ever snapped the other 3 because of the way he drove, I'd laugh my *** off at him. Well...( due to the condition of the studs and everything else around ), he broke. I didn't laugh though.....because I was in the car with him when it happend
But don't worry...thats rare.

haha. thanks a lot, guys.
while i have some of you here, would any of you know around how much cash it might be to get repaired? i found a write up here on stud replacement and it seems like a pretty quick job.. but i dont have the tools. ill have to pay someone..

don't know never had to do that before....but I would venture to say you'd need to at least remove the hub from the rear trailing arm and have it pressed out and then the new one pressed in.
took me 2 weeks after losing my first lug nut (down to 3) to lose the next one....I actually wound up almost losing the wheel completely as the next to last one was backing of before I ever felt much of a shimmy. Fix it sooner than later, you PROBABLY will be okay (as most people are)...but on 4 lug cars, the sooner the better...the small vibration CAN and does sometimes..back those other 3 off.

the rear is easy. just take it apart and smack the old one out with a hammer and put the new one in and tighten the new one up with some washers and a lugnut. the tension will pull it right into place. the easiest way is to use a impact though.
you need to use a press to do the front though. you have to press the bearing out of th knuckle so you can get to it. impretty sure there is enough room in the rear. ive never broken a rear lug just front ones.

You should be fine. It happened to me also, same exact thing... I also went street racing with three lugs. Just as long as you tighten them, nothing bad should go wrong.

oh....I used a shop press on both front and rears

dude its not that hardtake the rotor off and i dont think you have to take the hub off the dcs. and the lugs like 2 bucks and you can rent the tool if you want from like autozone or advance auto.
