Apparently tire rack rents out a special tool that rolls the lip of the fenders. Has anyone here used such a tool (not a bat) and been sucessful at it???

 

They don't have them anymore - too many people didn't return them when they were lent out.

 

just called them up, they have 2 left but there are 9 other people in line to rent it. So...it takes about 10-15 days per average use time which means it could take about 2-3 months and from what the operator told me, this is tirerack's design and special tool, no one else has it! I don't want to use a bat.

 

You gotta wonder... why don't they just market the product if so many people use it? <shrug>

 

seriously, if they did, they would make a lot of money.

 

they've been using a tool like that one in japan for a while. it bolt to the hub and has a roller that gradually flares the fender out.. nice stuff.
by lookin in my japn mags it say they charge 3000yen a fender..bout 100buck for all four...tire rack nbeed s to start sellin this product. we need it.

 

how many would really buy one? my friend's shop makes them on their CNC machines

 

I just use a baseball/softball bat. works fine

 

i think it has to do with the fact that people don't actually need to OWN it. once you use the tool, you're done with it--once the fenders are rolled that's the end. it's not like valve-adjustment tool that gets used every 15000 miles. i don't think that people could justify spending money on a tool that would only be used once.

 

I need to roll my fenders, yoshi...can your friend make one??
